An investiture ceremony has been held for one of Missouri’s Supreme Court judges. The formal ceremony celebrates Missouri Supreme Court Judge Kelly Broniec’s appointment to the high court.

“Thank you for considering me worthy,” she said tearfully in her first speech as a Missouri Supreme Court Judge. Broniec said she is finally starting to believe in herself the way others do.

After serving as the chief judge of the Missouri Court of Appeals for the Eastern District, Gov. Mike Parson appointed Broniec to the Supreme Court position last September.

During Monday’s ceremony, Parson’s general counsel, Evan Rodriguez, said Broniec’s rural Missouri life is important, pointing out that big cases can come from small communities.

Judge James Dowd, of the Eastern District Court of Appeals, said “Parson has reshaped the Missouri Judiciary more than any judge in history and the courts are the better for it.”

Broniec was sworn into office by Senior Appeals Court Judge Roy Richter.
